  • What is Lymphatic Slimming Treatment

A lymphatic slimming treatment is a specialized procedure that helps the lymph system work more efficiently. Specifically when done following surgery, the treated area is given special attention to speed up recovery and provide smoother results. There are many benefits to lymphatic slimming treatment. It:

  • Reduces swelling and helps prevent fluid collection

  • Promotes the flushing of toxins

  • Prevents the formation of scar tissue and fibrosis

  • Improves circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid

  • Stimulates wound healing

  • May reduce discomfort

After a procedure like liposuction, tissue can produce excess lymphatic fluid as the body reacts to the traumatic action of the insertion of cannulas and removal of fat.

Even with less intrusive procedures, some patients may experience a degree of tissue disruption, leading to an accumulation of excess fluid, called edema. In some cases, pockets of fibrosis may form, leading to hardened areas of scar tissue.

During lymphatic slimming treatment, a qualified individual gently manipulates the skin and underlying tissues in the areas of lymph production to increase circulation and promote drainage and healing.

The process itself tends to be gentle and light, and should be a relaxing and comfortable procedure for the patient. Additionally, the reduction in discomfort and swelling immediately afterwards makes a lymphatic slimming treatment an even more pleasurable experience.

A general recommendation is to have three to five treatments, but some patients may experience benefits from as few as one to two treatments. Your cosmetic surgeon can advise you as to whether lymphatic slimming treatment will benefit you following your liposuction or other surgical procedure.

  • How often does a person need to have Brazilian Lymphatic

Slimming Treatment Sessions?

Each session of Brazilian lymphatic slimming treatment lasts for approximately 50 minutes.

Ideally, it is advisable to have 3 sessions of Brazilian lymphatic slimming treatment done weekly until the symptoms of fluids retention, swelling, and cellulite have resolved. However, some patients may need more frequent sessions. Patients can also choose to undergo this therapy on a regular basis to eliminate toxins from the body, cleanse the blood, and restore a healthy skin complexion.

Patients can also have a few sessions of this treatment during the post-operative period to improve their recovery after some surgeries such as abdominoplasty, mammoplasty, and liposuction.

The results of this treatment vary depending on the patient’s metabolism.
